I strongly oppose the mask requirements being imposed on children. You have taken away a parent’s/guardian’s rights and have made this a political agenda item. Children under the age of 6 are still developing their cognitive functions, and learning involves many aspects of seeing, hearing and picking up social cues and emotions; all of which are tremendously hindered with masks. These children are not the greatest impacted population getting COVID (obese adults with an average of 2.6 morbidities). Our children are active; not sedentary, metabolically sick at-risk adults. The risk of COVID-19 in children is comparable to their risk from the flu, but the issue is risk perception. Mask wearing in children is unhealthy due to lack of proper air exchange, mental health and development, and the collection of saliva, mucous and bacteria that mask wearing propagates. I STRONGLY oppose mask wearing requirements for children. Mandate eating whole food, daily sunlight and exercise instead.
Please opt out of the mask mandate for children 2-11 in our schools. As a parent of a second grader in the Bennett School District I am concerned about how detrimental this could be to my child. The school district was great last year at keeping our children safe. Please let them do this again without masks on our kids.
We as parents should be able to decide what is best for our children. I want my child to stay in school. She needs the classroom environment. She did not do well with online learning last year for part of the year. She needs to socialize. She needs to be with her teacher and class.
Please opt out of the mandate. It will do more harm than good. Our young kids will suffer. Please let this be the parents decision to how we keep our kids safe.
Please remember we live in a country built on the freedom to choose, let alone the rest of the freedoms. We as parents should continue to decide what’s best for our kids. Opt out of the draconian and not scientifically supported mask mandates (and any further medical mandates) from TCHD and allow parents to choose. Those who want masks, great, they can have them. But let those of us who believe our children are so much better off without them (for all the reasons that have been shared by hundreds before me), let us send our kids as we see fit!
Please opt out of the TCHD mask order for children ages 2 through 11. TCHD asked for public comment and received it. Only 8% of the entire three county region supported the issued order. Only 31% of the entire three county region supported a K through 12th grade order. An overwhelming majority of 62% of the entire three county region supported NO mandate. Douglas County responsibly opted out of the mandate and returned the choice to a more local level as it should be and their percentages were 8%, 27% and 65% respective to the order above. Adams County's percentages in the same order were 4%, 23% and 74%. It is absolutely clear that this order is over reach and should be opted out of. If parents want this mask mandate they can ask for one on the local level of the school or school district but if they don't want this mask mandate there is no recourse other than the County's governing body issuing a written resolution to opt out. Please have the courage to opt out.
I stand opposed to a mask mandate for children. 2 years old is just ridiculous to expect them to wear a mask, keep it on, and expect that that is better for their health than fresh air. They are not the age group that is at the highest risk. Masks should be optional and left up to the parents of the child. If masks are effective than the parents who are concerned and would like to have their child wear a mask should have no fear of a child not wearing one. There are a lot of associated collateral damage done to children by wearing masks for so long, like CO2 elevated levels and a mask worn too long gets saturated in moisture which only promotes the harboring of other bacteria which could result in illness as well. There is also psychological issues that have been reported for children and their mental wellness.
Please opt out of the mask mandate for children in schools.
1) Children are lowest risk for serious effects from COVID
2) Children are least likely to properly wear a mask. No one will be able to get my 3 year old to properly wear a mask for a full day of preschool.
3) Those who are not vaccinated have made their choice and accept the risk. In the case of children under 12, see point #1.
4) Psychological effects are real. Masks are a barrier to social interaction. Modern kids NEED MORE social interaction, not less.
5) There is no evidence to support the claim the mask MANDATES decrease infection rates.
I am using for Adams County to opt out of the blanket mask mandate for ages 2-11. I am a teacher at the Elementary School in Bennett. Last year our young learners were not required to wear masks in school and we were able to keep the student to student transmission of COVID at bay with all of the protocols we had in place. My biggest concern is how wearing a mask will affect our students ability to communicate and learn in all faucets of their development. This includes both social emotional learning and educational. Our young students rely on our facial expressions to be able to learn appropriate social skills and language skills. If we are taking this valuable tool away from them, how can we expect them to thrive emotionally, physically and in education. Please take all of this into consideration when making your decision that will have a detrimental impact on our kids. We will and have keep our students safe without a mandate of the mask.
Let parents make the choice on what they feel is right for their child and their family. School is hard enough the way it is. Let the kids be what they are, Kids. Enjoy their school experience where they get to see other peoples faces and make friends play, run, laugh and get the most out of their school year. They have been through enough the way that is it. We need to ask for better for our children.
Masks are an important tool in protecting our children. They are unvaccinated. With little to no distancing happening in classrooms, we need to do what we can to keep them protected. Let’s keep our kids in school by having them wear masks. A small price to pay for their health and the ability to be in the school building. Please listen to the science.
Parents should have a choice on whether or not their kid needs a mask. This order is for kids way too young that cannot even put a mask on themselves. 2 year olds throw things, what happens when they throw their mask on the dirty ground? Do teachers touch and contaminate their masks to help them put it back on? What is the efficiency of masks when kids come home with it sopping wet from chewing it (my 6 year old did that everyday last year and it stunk). How much bacteria and other germs are on the mask? Parents of young 2 and 3 year olds are being told that if their kid can't keep a mask on then the child cannot attend. How are parent supposed to work? Kids need to be breathing in fresh air and not carbon dioxide. Their immune systems are being suppressed by wearing masks. Doctors are scared of the health board and flat out won't issue exemptions for ANY reason, so kids that truly need medical exemptions can't get it. . Please help the parents out and opt out of this order!
There’s a very low vaccination rate within the county and with schools taking barely any action to quarantine their students it’s laughable how they want to do the minimum with a mask mandate. Please be reasonable
It’s really quite simple, if person is sick they should self quarantine at home. If they are well they should be left to decide for themselves if they choose to, or not to wear a mask. Unelected individuals making blanket mandates upon an entire county where the rural community does not transmit infection at the same rate as their urban counterparts should definitely not have to endure the same restrictions.
I am requesting Adams County Opt out of tri-county health's mask mandate for 2-11 year olds. The People have spoken and tri-county health has chosen to ignore them. Tri-county health did a survey with 10,000 responses, 62% of respondents did not support masking in schools, 8% supported masking in indoor settings where there's a presence of anyone 11 or younger, and 31% supported masking in all indoor school settings.
Board Member Fawell said during the Aug. 17 meeting: “There’s no significant health effects of wearing a mask. Having spent 35 years in surgery (not in a school), I can attest to that. “I can’t attest to whether wearing a mask is a psychological problem or a learning problem,” Fawell said.
Why would Adams County abide to a mandate made by a guy without all the information regarding 2-11 year old kids?
Board members Fielding and Muramoto expressed reservations with issuing a mask mandate, citing concerns about suicide and mental health among youth.
I am a parent of 3 ages 7 to 10 and you should have seen the panic and disappointment in their faces when I told them that their school would have a mask mandate again. I ask you to please OPT OUT of the mask mandate it is not worth the stress it puts on our children. I believe each parent should make this decision on what works for them and their family.
As an educator in BsD29J I am firmly against the mandatory mask mandate imposed by TCHD. Our school successfully navigated an entire year of COVID protocols and never had any of our primary students masked. We have no student to student transmission of covid through our entire district. We should have the right to choose what is best for our families and communities, commissioners you were not elected to make medical decisions for me or for my family. As a county We are pleading eith you to opt out and let districts make their own choices on what the community feels is right for them. Our less populated area functions very differently than more densely populated urban areas. So why are we being put under the same blanket mandate from a non-governemtn entity. These are suggestions, not laws. Please treat them as such.
Please consider opting out of the mask mandate in Adams county. I am not against wearing masks to protect others if the numbers show that it is necessary I am however against a blanket mandate for an entire county. I trust our school board and the staff at bsd29j to have the best interest of our children as a top priority and I have complete faith that they will protect them. Please allow individual districts to make the decision that best helps their schools. Every district is different and their needs are all different,
to lump them into one blanket mandate is inappropriate. I am a peacemaker and open-minded and I'm willing to listen to both sides of the story and I don't feel that public mandates support any of this. Our children are the ones who are suffering because people are divided and not willing to listen to all sides. We all need to try harder to understand each other and come to decisions on common ground that are the best for the kids experiencing this.
I am absolutely against the mask mandate for our children. Can anyone tell me how to register to speak at the meeting on Tuesday? I cannot find a link to register.
I am a parent of a 4th grader in Strasburg. I am asking for you to opt Adams County out of the recent mask mandate made by Tri County, leaving the choice up to each school board. Strasburg, being unincorporated with low population should not fall under the same blanket mandate as more populated areas of the county. Last year my daughter did not have to wear a mask all day, the children stayed within their cohorts, practiced social distancing, and she did not get sick all year. My daughter whom loves going to school is now asking my wife and I about homeschooling so that she doesn’t have to wear a mask all day. This decision should be left to the school board and the parents.
Please OPT OUT of the TCHD mask mandate for our youngest learners. Our schools in rural Adams County were in person all last year without mandating masks for 11 and under. Our schools have proven they have our students best interests in mind and are perfectly capable of keeping our children safe. This TCHD order is an overreach on so many levels - please listen to your constituents and do the right thing. Give parents the choice.

First remember the principles of our country. The right to choose, the freedom of choice and the pursuit of happiness.
The kids won’t complain about having a mask but we are not letting them choose. One principle that we have live in our country.
We as we parents decide what is the best thing for our kids and we take full responsibility for their growth and wellbeing.
Let us be parents and do the best for our kids. The future citizens that will be taking the decision when we get to be seniors.
