The distance between 72nd Ave off Highway 79 to the entrance of the Sand and Gravel pit is 1 Mile. Yet, truckers are “Jake Braking” within 3/4 of a mile in front of a specific residence who is opposed to the permit approval. The “Jake braking” can literally be heard a mile away of the entrance of the sand and gravel pit. This is residential area in numbers more than a sand and gravel pit. Many residents work long shifts and different shifts throughout the day. A couple are “first responders and essential workers”. Should we have to endure such noise pollution? What speeds are the truckers traveling in order to have to “Jake brake” within less than a mile? Perhaps one consideration aside from noise pollution and safety concerns, maybe the county can install no “Jake braking” signs and have them enforced. Common sense should indicate lower speeds for the safety of wildlife, persons’ and property but I don’t believe these measures are considered.
